Overview
The VE2812PR is the receiver unit in ATEN's HDBaseT HDMI extension system, purpose-built for installations where the display end needs both HDMI output and independent audio extraction. It accepts a single HDBaseT signal over structured cabling and splits it into three simultaneous outputs: HDMI Type A, 3.5mm stereo analog, and SPDIF coaxial — making it the correct choice when the display destination has a separate audio system (DSP, amplifier, or PA zone controller) that cannot accept HDMI ARC. Power over HDBaseT (PoH) is supported on the RJ-45 port, meaning the VE2812PR can draw power directly from a compliant transmitter over the same Cat cable, eliminating the need for a local power outlet at the display end.
Compatibility
The VE2812PR pairs with ATEN's HDBaseT transmitter lineup, specifically the VE2812T, forming the VE2812 extension set. Cable performance scales with infrastructure: 4K resolution is achievable at 70m over Cat 5e/6 standard runs, or extended to 100m using HDBaseT-certified cable or ATEN's own tailor-made HDBaseT cable. 1080p at 60Hz is supported over Cat 5e/6/6a at the full 100m span — a practical ceiling for most conference room and digital signage drops. The IR bypass channel (3.5mm mini stereo, bidirectional, full range) allows remote control signals to pass in both directions through the same cable run, supporting IR-controlled displays or source devices without a separate IR extender run.
Installation Notes
The VE2812PR ships with a mounting bracket; installed dimensions are 14.53 × 12.30 × 3.00 cm (5.72 × 4.84 × 1.18 in.), and without bracket: 13.60 × 10.10 × 2.90 cm (5.35 × 3.98 × 1.14 in.). Unit weight is 1.1 lb (0.50 kg). The DC jack uses a locking connector — verify the transmitter end provides PoH if no local power outlet is available. A slide switch on the unit controls firmware upgrade mode; during normal operation, confirm this switch is set to OFF to prevent unintended reflash. Humidity tolerance is 0–80% RH non-condensing; do not install in exposed or uncontrolled environments without appropriate enclosure protection. Maximum IR cable run from the IR port is 3m.
