Description

Middle Atlantic FWD-VT1 1U Rack Vent Panel

Overview

The Middle Atlantic FWD-VT1 is a 1U (1.75 in) blank vent panel designed for 19-inch rackmount enclosures. At 64% perforation, it allows passive airflow through an otherwise solid rack face — useful when filling an empty bay that sits between heat-producing gear (amplifiers, encoders, managed switches) and needs to pass air rather than block it. Installing the FWD-VT1 where a solid blank would otherwise trap heat is a low-cost way to manage thermal stratification without adding a fan tray. At 0.45 lbs, it won't affect rack balance calculations.

Compatibility

Designed for Middle Atlantic's Forward-series rack enclosures and any standard EIA 19-inch rack cabinet that accepts 1U panels. The 19-inch panel width and 1RU height conform to the EIA-310 rack standard, making it mechanically interoperable with any compliant rackmount enclosure — including open-frame two-post racks, four-post server racks, and AV equipment racks where Middle Atlantic builds the majority of their product line. Verify your rack accepts standard 1U 19-inch panels before ordering if using in a non-Forward-series enclosure.

Installation Notes

No tools beyond a standard screwdriver are required. The panel ships at 0.5 lbs and installs into any open 1U bay using the rack's existing cage nuts or clip-nut hardware — none is included, so confirm your rack hardware kit has the appropriate fasteners on hand before install. Mount in any open bay where passive ventilation between heat-generating 1U or 2U components is the goal; multiple FWD-VT1 panels can be stacked in adjacent bays to create a larger vent zone in a deep-loaded rack.
