Description

Comnet CLRVE2COAX Dual Analog Video and Ethernet Over Coaxial Cable

Overview

The CLRVE2COAX is a single-channel transmitter and single- or dual-channel receiver pair that multiplexes composite analog baseband video and 10/100T(X) Ethernet onto a single RG59 coaxial cable, reaching 500m without active amplification. Solves the problem of retrofitting existing analog video runs with IP data when pulling new cable is not feasible — preserves your coax infrastructure while adding network connectivity for edge devices, PoE endpoints, or network upgrades on analog camera installations.

Transmitter offers optional IEEE 802.3at PoE power capability from 24VAC input, eliminating the need for separate power runs to remote equipment. Receiver side supports single or dual channels, giving integrators flexibility in whether to consolidate or split video and data flows back to the head end.

Compatibility

Compatible with any standard composite analog video source (CVBS / baseband) — analog cameras, DVRs, video baluns, and analog encoder outputs. Ethernet port accepts 10/100TX connections from standard network devices: edge encoders, PoE injectors, network switches, or any device with RJ-45 connectivity. Works with existing RG59 installed runs; no cable replacement required. No VMS, firmware, or software prerequisites — passive coaxial integration.

Installation Notes

Full-duplex operation means video and Ethernet traffic flow simultaneously on the same cable without degradation. Asymmetric throughput: expect up to 36Mbps from transmitter to receiver (video metadata, auxiliary data, control signals), and up to 4Mbps in the return direction (sensor telemetry, device status, PoE return power). Proprietary adaptive analog equalizer extends composite video reach; signal quality depends on cable condition and prior attenuation. Install both transmitter and receiver — video flows in one direction, Ethernet in both. PoE option on transmitter requires 24VAC auxiliary input; verify your power source supports PoE passthrough if using that variant.
