Description

Comnet CLEK41EOC Ethernet-over-Coax Multipoint Extender Kit

Overview

The Comnet CLEK41EOC is a packaged point-to-multipoint Ethernet-over-coax extender system designed to retrofit existing analog CCTV installations to Ethernet-based IP cameras and switches without running new cable. It includes one four-channel local unit and four individual remote units, allowing you to transmit 10/100 Mbps Ethernet data over standard coaxial cable up to 1,200 feet (400 meters). This eliminates the cost and disruption of trenching or conduit runs in campus environments, casinos, airports, and distributed security installations where coax is already in place.

Compatibility

The CLEK41EOC works with any Ethernet device—IP cameras, network switches, encoders, or recorders—that connects via standard RJ-45. The coax-to-Ethernet conversion is transparent to your network stack; devices see standard 10/100 Mbps connectivity without requiring driver changes or VMS modifications. Multicast and unicast traffic are supported, making the kit compatible with ONVIF-compliant cameras and standard TCP/IP network protocols (RFC 768 UDP, RFC 2068 HTTP, RFC 793 TCP). The system handles jumbo frames, so streaming multiple high-bitrate cameras over a single run is feasible within the 100 Mbps symmetric bandwidth constraint.

Installation Notes

Operating voltage is 9–15 VDC; power supplies are included with both local and remote units. The local unit draws 5W; each remote unit draws 1.5W. DIP switches on each unit allow selection of 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps mode—choose 100 Mbps for most deployments unless distance or cable quality demands lower speed. The four-channel local unit measures 6.1 × 5.3 × 1.1 inches and fits standard ComNet product racks; individual remote units measure 2.3 × 1.6 × 1.1 inches and can be mounted close to cameras or endpoints. Both local and remote units support optional DIN-rail mounting with the DINBKT4 bracket (sold separately). LED status indicators on all units confirm link and activity. Operating temperature range is 0°C to +50°C; storage range is −10°C to +60°C. The system is type-tested to RFC 2544 TCP/IP bandwidth and packet transmission standards and manufactured in the USA.
