Overview

The ATEN VE901 is a DisplayPort HDBaseT-lite extender designed to transmit high-resolution video signals over a single Cat 5e/6 or Cat 6a cable. This unit is crucial for extending video feeds in environments where the source device cannot be placed near the display, such as extending video walls, digital signage, or surveillance monitor feeds in commercial installations. The VE901T model specifically refers to the transmitter unit.

Compatibility

This extender supports DisplayPort sources and displays. It is designed to work with standard Cat 5e, Cat 6, or Cat 6a Ethernet cabling for signal transmission. The unit is compatible with 4K resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 / 3840 x 2160 at 30Hz (4:4:4) when using Cat 6a cable, and up to 35 meters with Cat 5e/6. For 1080p resolutions, it extends signals up to 70 meters using Cat 6a and up to 60 meters using Cat 5e/6.

Installation Notes

The VE901 requires a single Cat 5e/6 or Cat 6a cable to connect the transmitter (VE901T) to the receiver (sold separately). It requires external power via a DC jack (locking type) for the transmitter, drawing minimal power. The operating humidity range is 0-80% RH, non-condensing, making it suitable for typical indoor commercial environments.
