Description

Comnet CLKFE1EOC Ethernet-over-Copper Extender with PoE Pass-Through

Overview

The CLKFE1EOC is a single-channel Ethernet-over-copper extender that carries 10/100 Mbps data and IEEE 802.3af power over existing coaxial cable infrastructure — solving the distance problem for surveillance systems already wired with coax. You get 5,000 feet of reach at 10 Mbps or 2,000 feet at 100 Mbps over coax; if you have UTP/Cat5 instead, expect 3,000 feet at 10 Mbps or 2,000 feet at 100 Mbps. The unit passes PoE through to your powered device (camera, access reader, or VoIP endpoint), eliminating the need to run separate power lines to remote equipment. Included: two extender units, two Cat5 cables, and a power supply for local injection if your switch lacks PoE.

Compatibility

Works with any IEEE 802.3af-compliant powered device — IP cameras, access control readers, VoIP phones, and wireless access points. Compatible with standard coaxial cable (RG59, RG6) or unshielded twisted-pair Cat5/Cat5e. Operates in parallel with ONVIF-based VMS systems and legacy analog CCTV infrastructure during migration phases. DIP switches allow user configuration for local vs. remote unit designation, bandwidth selection (10 or 100 Mbps), and pair selection (1-pair or 4-pair UTP), making it adaptable to mixed cable plant scenarios.

Installation Notes

Extended operating temperature range (-40°C to +65°C) supports outdoor cable runs without enclosure. Designed to NEMA TS-1/TS-2 and Caltrans specifications for environmental robustness (humidity with condensation, transient voltage protection, mechanical shock and vibration). Input accepts either PoE injection or 9–36 VDC / 24 VAC from the included screw-terminal power supply. Power consumption is 1.5 W per unit. LED status indicators confirm link and activity. Type-tested to RFC-2544 standards for zero packet loss over usable distance; supports multicast, unicast, and jumbo frames. MTBF exceeds 100,000 hours.
