Overview
The ATEN CE770 is a USB KVM extender that pushes keyboard, mouse, and video signals over standard Cat5e or Cat6 cable — eliminating the cable-distance constraints that come with direct USB and video runs. The CE770 handles resolutions up to 1920x1200 at 60Hz over distances to 150 m, or drops back to 1280x1024 at 60Hz when you need to reach up to 300 m. That range makes it a practical fit for server rooms, broadcast control environments, and any installation where the operator workstation cannot sit adjacent to the host system. The unit-to-unit connection uses a single RJ-45 female port (black), keeping cabling straightforward and compatible with structured wiring already in place.
Compatibility
The CE770 connects to USB host systems and supports KVM switches and computers with USB keyboard/mouse ports. Video compatibility spans DDC, DDC2, and DDC2B monitors, covering virtually all current and legacy display types. For larger deployments, the CE770 integrates with ATEN KVM infrastructure — including matrix switches and cascade configurations — where extending a single console port to a remote location is a common requirement. Pair with Cat5e or Cat6 structured cabling; shielded cable is recommended in electrically noisy environments such as industrial floors or data centers with dense switching equipment.
Installation Notes
Maximum operating humidity is 0–80% RH non-condensing — suitable for climate-controlled server rooms and control centers, but not uncontrolled outdoor or high-humidity spaces. The CE770 is rack-mountable, fitting standard rack enclosures for clean cable management in equipment rooms. A single pushbutton select control is provided on the remote unit. Verify Cat5e or Cat6 cable integrity and total run length before commissioning — signal degradation from patch cables, keystone jacks, and consolidation points counts against the 150 m or 300 m distance budget.
