Overview
The CM-222/A42 is a single-gang, hands-free touchless switch designed for access control and automatic door activation in commercial facilities. It uses active infrared microburst sensor technology to eliminate physical contact—a genuine advantage in high-traffic secured entries, healthcare facilities, and any environment where touchless operation reduces cross-contamination risk. Operating at 24VDC with a 45mA peak current draw, the CM-222/A42 fits standard single-gang electrical boxes (4.5" H × 2.75" W × 1.25" D) and mounts directly into your access control wiring infrastructure.
Compatibility
The CM-222/A42 integrates with access control systems that support 24VDC electromagnetic lock strikes and require a hands-free activation trigger. It supplies a single-pole changeover contact rated at 1 Amp @ 30VDC, compatible with any access control panel, door controller, or strike release circuit drawing under 1 Amp at that voltage. The built-in infrared sensor and pushbutton contacts (Common/N.O./N.C.) work with standard access control relay logic and time-delay controllers. No TCP/IP or networked credential validation is built into this unit—it is a passive sensor device paired with separate access control electronics. Install it wherever you need wireless activation of an electromagnetic strike or solenoid latch in secured doorways.
Installation Notes
The CM-222/A42 operates on 12–24VDC ± 10% only—do not apply AC voltage. Adjustable detection range spans 2 to 8 inches, and time delay (activation hold time) is configurable from 0.5 to 20 seconds via on-device controls. Response time is 10ms. Environmental rating is IP65, suitable for interior commercial spaces; temperature range is −13°F to 122°F (−25°C to 50°C). The unit features blue and green factory-default LEDs (blue = standby, green = triggered), both controllable by the sensor or external logic for status indication. Mount in a standard single-gang box; ensure 24VDC power is derived from a regulated supply with adequate current capacity for the strike and switch combined.
