Overview

The CM-221/46 is a single-gang touchless switch designed for contactless door activation in commercial and institutional environments. It operates at 30VDC and delivers 10ms response time, making it suitable for high-traffic corridors, restrooms, and healthcare facilities where hands-free operation reduces cross-contamination. The unit features an adjustable infrared sensor with a range of 2 to 8 inches — tunable to prevent nuisance triggers in busy hallways while maintaining reliable detection for intentional users. A Form C relay contact rated 1A @ 30VDC drives electromagnetic locks and strike hardware directly.

Compatibility

The CM-221/46 integrates with electromagnetic lock and strike systems operating at 30VDC. It mounts in standard single-gang electrical boxes and pairs with surface-mount installations via the CM-34BL compatible box. The switch works in both standalone and networked access control architectures — the Form C relay provides dry contact closure, so it can trigger any 30VDC strike hardware or integrate into a larger control panel via relay input. Manual override capability is available on the CM-221M/46 variant if bypass activation is required during power loss or sensor failure.

Installation Notes

IP65 rating tolerates wet or dusty environments — suitable for outdoor vestibules and washdown areas. Temperature range is −13°F to 122°F (−25°C to +50°C). Adjustable time delay (0.5 to 20 seconds) configures dwell time for the relay closure — critical for strike hold-open duration. Peak current draw is 45 mA, well within standard 12–24 VDC ±10% regulated power budgets. Requires filtered, regulated DC supply (AC or overvoltage voids warranty).
