Camden CM-221M/46 Touchless Exit Switch
Overview
The CM-221M/46 is a stainless steel touchless exit switch built around active infrared microburst sensor technology. It eliminates physical contact during door egress—a real constraint in healthcare, food service, and high-traffic commercial environments where cross-contamination is a liability. The switch integrates into ADA-compliant automatic door control systems and networked access control applications. Operating range is adjustable from 2 to 8 inches (5–20 cm), and time delay adjusts from 0.5 to 20 seconds—enough flexibility to tune for high-traffic hallways or slower-moving occupants.
Compatibility
The CM-221M/46 works with networked door control systems and third-party annunciator applications through its remote LED switching capability. Power input is 12–24 VDC (±10%), so it integrates into standard access control power buses. The unit provides relay contacts (1 Amp @ 30 VDC, common/N.O./N.C. configuration)—the standard interface for door strikers, magnetic locks, and request-to-exit (RTE) inputs on most commercial access control panels. Built-in red and green LED indication signals standby and triggered states, supporting visual feedback integration with guard stations or nurse call systems.
Installation Notes
Available in single-gang faceplate format (4.5″ H × 2.75″ W × 1.25″ D) for standard door frame rough openings. Stainless steel construction handles washdown environments (IP65 rating prevents spray ingress). Temperature range is −13°F to 122°F (−25°C to 50°C)—adequate for indoor commercial and institutional settings. Response time is 10 ms, so activation is immediate. Do NOT apply AC voltage; 12–24 VDC only. Peak current draw is 45 mA—negligible on any standard access control power supply.
