Camden CM-221M/46N Touchless Exit Switch Narrow Faceplate
Overview
The Camden CM-221M/46N is a hands-free infrared exit switch built for ADA-compliant automatic door control and access control integration. It uses active IR microburst sensor technology to eliminate physical contact — a practical advantage in healthcare, hospitality, and high-traffic commercial environments where touch-free operation reduces cross-contamination risk. Housed in a narrow (jamb-mount) stainless steel faceplate, the CM-221M/46N fits tight spaces where standard single-gang switches won't fit.
Compatibility
The CM-221M/46N integrates with networked access control systems and automatic door operators that accept dry-contact relay signals. It provides Common/Normally Open/Normally Closed (N.O./N.C.) contact pairs rated 1 Amp @ 30 VDC — sufficient to trigger electric strikes, door operators, and control relays in most commercial panels. Remote LED control allows third-party applications (guard stations, nurse call, annunciators) to monitor or command the switch state externally. Verify your door operator or access control panel accepts 12–24 VDC dry-contact input before ordering.
Installation Notes
Requires 12–24 VDC power supply at ±10% tolerance (peak current draw: 45 mA). Do not use AC voltage. Mounting footprint is narrow (4.5" H × 1.75" W × 1.25" D). Adjustable detection range spans 2 to 8 inches; time delay configurable from 0.5 to 20 seconds to match door operator speed and traffic patterns. IP65 rating means dust and water spray won't damage the IR lens, though prolonged submersion is not rated. Temperature operating range is −13°F to 122°F (−25°C to 50°C).
