Description

ATEN UE350A USB 3.2 Gen 1 Active Extension Cable — 5m

Overview

The ATEN UE350A is a 5-meter active USB extension cable that pushes USB 3.2 Gen 1 signals up to 5 Gbps — well past the passive 3-meter limit that causes enumeration failures and device dropouts in rack-mounted AV, security, and industrial deployments. If you're running a USB 3.0 capture card, storage device, or KVM peripheral farther than a standard cable can reach without signal degradation, the UE350A closes that gap. The downstream port is a standard USB Type-A female, so any USB device plugs in without adapters.

Compatibility

The UE350A is compatible with any USB 3.2 Gen 1, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, or USB 1.1 host and device — the active circuitry negotiates Super Speed (5 Gbps), Hi-Speed (480 Mbps), Full Speed (12 Mbps), or Low Speed (1.5 Mbps) automatically. Applicable use cases include rack-mounted KVM extenders, USB capture cards, external drives, and USB-connected security appliances where the host controller is in a locked rack and the peripheral lives at the operator position or edge of the installation. Upstream host port must be USB 3.2 Gen 1 / USB 3.0 to get the full 5 Gbps throughput; a USB 2.0 host will train at Hi-Speed — functional, but capped.

Installation Notes

Operate within 0–80% RH non-condensing — standard for enclosed rack environments, but avoid high-humidity plant floors or uncontrolled outdoor enclosures without additional protection. The active circuitry requires bus power from the host; no external power supply is needed for the cable itself, but ensure the host port can source sufficient bus current for both the cable and the attached device. Route cable runs away from high-EMI sources (motor drives, switching PSUs) to protect signal integrity at the 5 Gbps line rate.
