The VE8952R is the receiver component of ATEN's VE8952 HDMI over IP extension system, designed for AV distribution deployments where you need to push 4K signals across a standard Cat5e or Cat6 infrastructure without dedicated coax or fiber runs. It extends HDMI video up to 100 meters point-to-point at 4K resolution (4096x2160 or 3840x2160 at 30Hz, 4:4:4 color space) — covering most commercial floor layouts without signal degradation. The receiver outputs via a single HDMI Type A port and includes a 3.5mm stereo audio jack for local speaker connection, separating audio delivery from the HDMI run where needed. Two USB Type A ports on the unit support keyboard and mouse pass-through, making it practical for digital signage control points or remote workstation scenarios where peripheral access is required at the display end. Power is handled via PoE (802.3af) from the network switch, or through a DC jack with locking connector as a backup — eliminating a separate power run to the receiver location.
The VE8952R is the receiver unit for the ATEN VE8952 system and is designed to pair with the VE8952T transmitter unit. It operates within ATEN's VE89-series AV over IP extender platform. Infrastructure requirement is Cat5e or Cat6 cabling for the 100m 4K distance rating; performance degrades at longer runs or with lower-grade cabling. The PoE power path requires an 802.3af-capable PoE network switch or midspan injector — 802.3af delivers up to 15.4W, which covers this receiver's power draw. ID number selection is handled via 3 push buttons on the unit, supporting multi-receiver point-to-multipoint configurations where each receiver must be addressed individually.
Bracket dimensions are 17.02 x 14.69 x 3.00 cm (6.7 x 5.78 x 1.18 in.); without bracket the unit measures 16.60 x 12.49 x 2.90 cm (6.54 x 4.92 x 1.14 in.). Unit weight is 1.5 lb (0.68 kg). Keep the installation environment within 0–80% RH non-condensing — this is an indoor-rated unit and is not suitable for exposed or high-humidity locations. The DC jack uses a locking connector; if powering via DC rather than PoE, ensure the locking mechanism is fully engaged to prevent accidental disconnection. Firmware v1.5.145 (released 2026-02-10) is the current release; verify the transmitter and receiver are running matched firmware versions before commissioning. Consult the AV distribution planning guide when designing multi-zone layouts to confirm switch port PoE budget and IP addressing for receiver ID assignment.
