Description

Middle Atlantic SECL-3 3U Hinged Smoked Plexi Rack Security Cover

Overview

The Middle Atlantic SECL-3 is a 3U (5.25 in tall) hinged plexiglass security panel designed to restrict unauthorized access to rack-mounted equipment in shared or semi-public spaces. Constructed from smoked plexi with a 19-in panel width, it fits standard EIA-310 rack rails using 2 mounting points and sits just under 2 inches deep (1.96 in) — shallow enough not to conflict with nearby cable management or vertical PDUs. The smoked finish obscures rack contents at a glance while still letting technicians visually confirm indicator lights without opening the panel. Use it on DVRs, NVRs, patch panels, or media converters in equipment rooms, retail back-of-house racks, or classroom AV closets where staff or public foot traffic creates tampering risk.

Compatibility

Fits any standard 19-in EIA-310 rack or cabinet accepting 3U accessories — including Middle Atlantic ERK, BGR, and WMRK series enclosures, as well as third-party network rack cabinets and open-frame racks from manufacturers such as Tripp Lite, APC, and Hubbell. The 3U footprint covers equipment occupying 1–3 rack spaces; if your gear spans more or fewer units, Middle Atlantic offers the SECL series in additional rack-unit sizes. Pair with a rack access control solution or lockable rack door for layered physical security on surveillance NVRs and network switches.

Installation Notes

Mounts via 2 points to standard 19-in rack rails — no special tooling required beyond standard rack screws (not included; verify thread pattern against your rack). The hinged design swings open for access without full removal, reducing service time. At 1.96 in depth, confirm clearance behind the panel against any rear-mounted cabling or equipment handles before installation. Shipping weight is 3.4 lbs; the panel itself is lighter — factor into total rack weight budget accordingly.
