ACTi A31 3MP Fixed Bullet IP Camera
Overview
The ACTi A31 is a 3MP fixed-bullet camera engineered for outdoor perimeter monitoring, access-point surveillance, and high-vandalism deployments. The combination of 3MP resolution with a 2.8mm fixed lens delivers a 106.9° horizontal field of view, suitable for mid-range coverage on loading docks, parking areas, and building entries without the complexity of pan-tilt or variable optics. Built for harsh environments, the A31 carries IP66 weatherproofing and IK10 impact protection with metal casing—meaning direct rain, dust, and deliberate impact won't compromise imaging. Advanced WDR (120dB) handles backlit scenarios (sunlit perimeter with dark building shadow) without halo artifacts that confuse motion detection. Integrated IR LED array (22 × 850nm emitters) extends visibility to 30 meters in complete darkness, eliminating the need for auxiliary lighting on night shifts. PoE+ (802.3at Class 3) power delivery eliminates separate DC runs on most modern switches, simplifying cabling labor. The A31 integrates into standard IP surveillance networks via ONVIF compliance, enabling third-party VMS platforms to discover and control it without proprietary management software. Embedded analytics—Video Motion Detection (VMD) and People Counting—reduce server-side processing overhead on systems with dozens of cameras.
Compatibility
The A31 works with any ONVIF-compliant video management system (VMS) supporting Profile S, Profile T, and Profile Q standards. Modern IP surveillance platforms—including Milestone XProtect, Axis Camera Station, and third-party Linux-based systems—recognize the A31 via ONVIF discovery. Network infrastructure requires a PoE+ injector or PoE+ switch port; standard 802.3af PoE (13W budget) will not reliably power this camera under sustained operation. IP cameras in general benefit from segregated subnets and managed switches; consult your IP camera deployment guide for segmentation best practices. The pole and rack mount options fit standard conduit (1-inch nominal) and 19-inch rack rails respectively, though site-specific brackets may be needed for non-standard installation surfaces.
Installation Notes
Operating temperature range is -30°C to +50°C; verify your site does not exceed these limits before commissioning. The IP66 rating permits direct spray and temporary submersion but not extended immersion—do not install below water level or in locations prone to pooling. The 1.7 lb weight allows hand-mounting with two M6 bolts (not supplied); torque specifications are not published in available evidence, so refer to mounting-accessory documentation. RJ-45 pigtail connector requires standard Ethernet cabling and weatherproof termination; do not expose bare connectors to rain or condensation. Digital noise reduction (2D + 3D DNR) is enabled by default and should remain on in low-light outdoor scenes to reduce H.265 bitrate bloat from grain.
