Overview

The ATEN SN0132CO is a 32-port serial console server built for data center and enterprise network environments where out-of-band management and power redundancy are non-negotiable. The SN0132CO provides centralized serial console access to routers, switches, servers, and other RS-232-managed devices — keeping administrators in control even when the primary network is down. Dual power supplies and dual LAN ports eliminate single points of failure, making this unit appropriate for production environments where maintenance windows are costly. Six modes of operation — Console Management, Console Management Direct, Real COM Port, TCP Server/Client, UDP Server/Client, and Virtual Modem — give network and system engineers the flexibility to match the unit to their existing network infrastructure and management workflows without retooling either end of the connection.

Compatibility

The SN0132CO is compatible with any RS-232 serial device that requires out-of-band console access, including network switches, routers, firewalls, Linux and Unix servers, and network video recorders with serial management interfaces. Linux hosts connect via Real TTY (driver v1.1.101); Unix hosts use Fixed TTY (v1.1.101). The unit's firmware is field-upgradeable — current release v1.8.178 (2024-05-02) applies across the SN01xx CO and SN91xx CO families, so mixed deployments with other units in the SN series stay on a common firmware track. A full ATEN serial and KVM line is available for environments that need complementary console switching or KVM-over-IP alongside serial management. For DC-powered deployments such as telecom shelters or industrial racks, the SN0132COD variant accepts 36–48V DC input via a 5-pin terminal block — specify at order time if your power plant is DC-only.

Installation Notes

Input power is universal: 100–240VAC, 50/60Hz, 1.8A maximum, so the unit installs without a step-down transformer in any region. Operating humidity is rated 0–80% RH non-condensing — standard conditioned data center environments qualify without issue, but avoid unconditioned wiring closets with humidity swings. Three USB Type A female ports support peripheral attachment (console terminal, USB storage, or management dongles depending on firmware). A recessed reset pushbutton prevents accidental factory resets in rack-dense environments.
