The SN1116CO is a 16-port serial console server from ATEN designed for out-of-band management of network equipment, servers, and serial-attached devices in rack environments. Dual power inputs — both active simultaneously — eliminate the single-supply risk that makes console access unavailable at exactly the moment you need it most. The SN1116CO supports five modes of operation: Console Management, Console Management Direct, Real COM Port, TCP Server/Client, and UDP Server/Client. That range matters: Real COM Port mode lets legacy Windows and Linux applications talk to remote serial devices exactly as if the device were plugged into a local COM port, avoiding application rewrites during migration to centralized console access. Browse the full ATEN catalog for complementary KVM and serial management products.
The SN1116CO integrates with any serial-attached device presenting a standard RS-232 port — routers, managed switches, out-of-band server BMCs, PDUs, and environmental controllers are the typical targets. Linux hosts connect via the Real TTY driver (v1.1.101); Unix hosts via the Fixed TTY driver (v1.1.101). The 1U rack form factor fits standard 19-inch network rack enclosures. The onboard isolated relay output (2-pin terminal block, normally open, 24 VDC max / 2A contact rating) enables integration with external alert systems or power control circuits — useful in unmanned data closets where a software-triggered relay can actuate physical responses. For broader serial console server options, including higher-density models, review the full serial management line. Administrators managing mixed environments should also evaluate KVM switches alongside serial console servers for unified out-of-band access.
Mounts in standard 1U rack positions; rack and recessed mounting are both supported. Input power accepts 100–240VAC, 50/60Hz at 1.0A — compatible with both North American and international rack PDUs without an adapter. A recessed pushbutton reset is provided for recovery without requiring serial or network access. Operating humidity ceiling is 80% RH non-condensing — adequate for most conditioned equipment rooms but verify if the target space sees humidity spikes. Current firmware is v1.1.105 (released 2026-01-21); the upgrade package is a standard ZIP deployment via the management interface. Power status is indicated by two blue LEDs. Relay wiring to the 2-pin terminal block requires a separate low-voltage circuit rated at or below 24 VDC / 2A.
