Description

Middle Atlantic VTF3 3U Vented Rack Panel — Fine Perforation

Overview

The Middle Atlantic VTF3 is a 3U (5.25 in.) vented rack panel designed to fill open rack space while promoting passive airflow in enclosed rack enclosures. The fine perforation pattern delivers 25% open area — enough to break up heat stratification in tightly packed equipment bays without creating a structural gap in the rack face. If you're building out a security head-end, AV equipment rack, or network closet and have unused RU space between components, the VTF3 keeps airflow consistent rather than leaving a blind plate that traps heat above dense switchers or recorders. The VTF3 ships as a single flanged panel finished in black powder coat, matching standard Middle Atlantic rack systems and most third-party 19-inch EIA-310 enclosures.

Compatibility

Fits any standard 19-inch EIA-310 rack rail with two-point front mounting — compatible with Middle Atlantic rack enclosures including the ERK, RK, and BGR series, as well as third-party open-frame and enclosed 19-inch racks. The flanged style seats flush against the rack rail face; no rear support required given the 0.51 in. depth. Pairs naturally with Middle Atlantic's rack shelves, patch panels, and network switches in integrated head-end builds. Not designed for tool-less rail systems that require specific snap-in panel formats.

Installation Notes

Mounts via two standard rack screws (10-32 or M6 depending on your rail tapping) — hardware not included. At 1.3 lbs. shipping weight, the panel itself is under 1 lb. installed, so no additional rail support is needed. The VTF3 is not hinged and does not block light — factor that into cable management planning if light leakage between rack sections matters for your installation. TAA compliance is not applicable to this SKU; verify procurement requirements independently if your project has TAA mandates. Review our rack planning guide if you're sizing vent panels across a multi-RU build.
