Description

Middle Atlantic VT2 2RU Perforated Vent Panel

Overview

The Middle Atlantic VT2 is a 2-rack-unit (3.5 in.) flanged vent panel designed to manage passive airflow in 19-inch equipment racks. At 64% open area, the VT2 allows significantly more air movement than solid filler panels — a practical choice when you need to break up heat-trapping dead zones between densely packed rack accessories and active gear without adding a powered fan tray. The VT2 is only 0.51 inches deep, so it won't intrude into cable management space behind the panel. It ships in black powder coat finish and mounts with two standard rack points, making it a drop-in fit for any EIA-standard 19-inch rack frame. The model number VT2 directly indicates the 2RU height — straightforward for BOM documentation.

Compatibility

Fits any EIA-310 compliant 19-inch rack at 2RU height — including Middle Atlantic rack enclosures (ERK, BGR, PTRK, and WRK series), as well as standard open-frame and enclosed racks from other manufacturers conforming to the 19-inch/1.75-inch-per-RU standard. Use alongside active surveillance and networking gear — NVRs, PoE switches, and patch panels — in network video recorder rack builds where hot air stratification between units degrades equipment life. Not compatible with non-standard rack pitches or tool-less snap-in rail systems requiring proprietary panel clips. TAA non-compliant — flag this for government procurement.

Installation Notes

Mounts via two standard rack screws (screws not included — use #10-32 or M6 depending on your rack's threaded strip). The flanged style seats flush against the rack's front vertical rails. No tools beyond a screwdriver required. At 0.6 lbs shipping weight, it adds negligible rack load. Orient with the perforations facing inward for standard rack panel installations; the non-hinged, non-light-blocking design means it is purely a passive airflow aid — it will not seal out dust or block cable runs from the front.
