Overview
The ACTi Z812 is a 2MP outdoor dome with a motorized 2.8–12mm lens (4.3x zoom) built for facilities needing flexible field-of-view coverage without repositioning hardware. The Z812 handles perimeter monitoring at retail sites, industrial yards, parking structures, and campuses where mixed lighting and vandal exposure are constant. IP68 and IK10 ratings mean dust, direct rain, and impact won't degrade performance—a practical requirement for outdoor unattended deployments. WDR and IR night vision deliver usable detail in day/night transitions and complete darkness, eliminating blind spots during low-light hours. Dual codec support (H.265 and H.264) optimizes storage and bandwidth depending on your NVR or VMS architecture. Standard 802.3af PoE power eliminates the need for separate PSU runs to the camera location, a real cost and labor saver on retrofit jobs.
Compatibility
The Z812 integrates with any ONVIF-compliant IP VMS or NVR platform—Milestone, Genetec, Axis Camera Station, and legacy ONVIF Profile S systems. Motorized zoom control is accessible via ONVIF PTZ commands, allowing zoom automation in rules-based recording workflows. The built-in microphone connects to audio input on systems supporting audio ingestion (verify your NVR or VMS supports ONVIF audio before deployment). MicroSD slot supports local edge recording or failover capture if network connectivity drops. Standard RJ-45 Ethernet connector and PoE injection means no special adapters or splitter boxes—plug into any managed PoE switch.
Installation Notes
Verify your PoE switch or injector delivers 802.3af compliant power (15.4W available); the Z812 draws below 13W typical, leaving margin for surge. Mount on ceiling or wall using the supplied dome bracket—orient the camera to avoid direct sun glare into the lens during peak hours, as WDR can only recover so much blown exposure. Autofocus is available during installation for variable-distance scenes; disable it once focus is locked to avoid hunting during operation. Outdoor runs should use CAT6 or higher cabling and shielded connectors to minimize EMI from nearby HVAC or lighting systems. IP68 gaskets on the lens barrel and connector must be inspected annually if deployed in heavy salt-spray or corrosive environments.
