Description

Comnet CNFE2MC2C 2-Channel Contact Closure Ethernet Media Converter

Overview

The Comnet CNFE2MC2C is a 2-channel contact closure over Ethernet media converter that converts contact signals (relay outputs, alarm triggers, door locks, gate controls) into IP-based commands transmitted over twisted pair or fiber optic cable. This solves the problem of extending dry contact control signals beyond traditional copper run limits — critical in surveillance systems where alarm inputs, door triggers, or external relay commands must travel 100+ meters to a central control panel or NVR without dedicated shielded pairs. The CNFE2MC2C handles up to 250V AC or DC at 190mA per channel with a 25 msec response time, making it suitable for 24V solenoid locks, 12V gate triggers, and 110/220V alarm relays.

Compatibility

Works with any surveillance control system, NVR, or access control panel that can relay Ethernet frames or serial commands over IP — including Axis, Hikvision, Uniview, and other ONVIF-compliant systems that support contact closure input/output modules. The device operates over standard 10/100 Mbps Ethernet (RJ45) or fiber optic (LC/SC connectors via SFP transceiver — sold separately). Common deployment scenarios include connecting gate access sensors, perimeter alarm inputs, or door strike relays to an IP-based VMS or control hub where fiber isolation is required or cable runs exceed Cat5e limits.

Installation Notes

Operating voltage range is 8–24 VDC or 22–27 VAC — ensure your power supply falls within these bounds. The device draws 8W (320mA typical) and includes automatic resettable solid-state overcurrent protection per channel. Contact signals terminate to a 2-position terminal block connector; fiber connections depend on the SFP module (LC or SC). Temperature range is -40°C to +75°C operating, -40°C to +85°C storage, with non-condensing humidity up to 95% — suitable for outdoor enclosures or equipment rooms with seasonal extremes. Compact form factor (10.4 × 9.5 × 2.8 cm) allows DIN rail or shelf mounting in a standard electrical cabinet.
