Description

Comnet CNMC2+1SFP 2-Channel Ethernet to Optical Media Converter

Overview

The CNMC2+1SFP is a 2-channel electrical-to-optical media converter that bridges copper Ethernet to single-mode or multi-mode fiber. Each channel independently handles 10/100/1000 Mbps, making it the right choice when you need to extend surveillance or access-control networks beyond copper's 100-meter limit without running new cable through walls or conduit. This is a passive platform — SFP modules (fiber optic transceivers) are sold separately, giving you the flexibility to match fiber type and distance to your actual deployment.

Compatibility

Works with any standard RJ-45 Ethernet source (cameras, NVRs, switches, access control panels) and any gigabit-rated SFP module. Common pairings include Comnet's own SFP transceiver modules for single-mode or multi-mode fiber, but any IEEE 802.3z-compliant SFP is compatible. No special drivers or VMS integration needed — it's transparent to the network layer.

Installation Notes

Operating voltage is 8–24 VDC (or 22–27 VAC), drawing 3W maximum — can be powered via PoE injector, external supply, or existing surveillance power infrastructure. Temperature range of -40°C to +75°C makes it suitable for outdoor cabinet, mast, or rooftop mounting. Fault relay (0–36V, 190 mA, 25 msec response) provides alarm output if Ethernet or optical link fails — integrate with your control system to trigger alerts. Compact form factor (ComFit: 6.1 × 5.3 × 1.1 in; Mini: 4.1 × 3.7 × 1.1 in) fits tight enclosures. MTBF >100,000 hours supports carrier-grade reliability expectations.
