Description

Middle Atlantic UFA-8-F2 1RU Vented Rack Shelf with Faceplate

Overview

The Middle Atlantic UFA-8-F2 is a 1U rack-mount shelf designed for housing small devices — media converters, signal conditioners, small NVRs, or access control modules — inside standard 19-inch rack enclosures. At 8 inches of usable depth and a 35 lb weight capacity, the UFA-8-F2 handles the compact but dense equipment common in surveillance and AV head-end racks without requiring a full 2U footprint. The faceplate is included, so the rack bay presents a finished appearance rather than an open gap. This is the correct shelf when you need a single rack unit of horizontal surface for a sub-12-inch-deep device and don't want to dedicate a deeper shelf to it.

Compatibility

Fits any standard EIA 19-inch rack frame — including Middle Atlantic's own Middle Atlantic rack enclosures and open-frame relay racks, as well as third-party 19-inch rack systems from Belden, Panduit, Legrand, and similar manufacturers. The 8-inch usable depth accommodates small form-factor appliances: compact NVRs and DVRs, PoE injectors, small managed network switches, unmanaged media converters, and access control panels with footprints under 8 inches deep. Not suitable for full-depth 1U servers or appliances exceeding 8 inches in body depth. The 35 lb capacity covers virtually all small-device categories that fit the depth constraint. Two mounting points secure the shelf to the rack rails.

Installation Notes

Mounts at the vertical inside position within the rack — the shelf sits behind the rack's front rail plane, keeping the faceplate flush with adjacent panel blanks. Width is 19 inches (48.3 cm), standard EIA. Usable height is 1.75 inches (4.4 cm), which limits the device form factor to units under approximately 1.5 inches in body height. Black powder-coat steel finish resists corrosion in standard indoor mechanical-room and equipment-closet environments. Shipping weight is 3.9 lbs — account for this when calculating rack ballast.
