Overview
The ATEN VE7831A is a 10-meter (32.8 ft) active optical HDMI cable designed for reliable transmission of True 4K video signals over longer distances than passive copper cables. Its hybrid construction, combining optical fiber and copper wire, enables 4K@60Hz (4:4:4) resolution with HDCP 2.2 compliance, making it suitable for high-demand AV installations in commercial environments, digital signage, or conference rooms where signal integrity is paramount. The VE7831A model specifically addresses the need for extended reach without signal degradation.
Compatibility
This cable is compatible with any source device outputting an HDMI signal and any display device accepting an HDMI input, provided the total distance does not exceed 10 meters. It supports standard HDMI features including TMDS, EDID, and CEC, and audio formats such as PCM 8-channel, Dolby Digital True HD, and DTS-HD Master Audio. The inclusion of a Type-D HDMI connector on one end offers flexibility for connecting to devices with smaller HDMI ports.
Installation Notes
The cable features a UL Plenum (CMP-OF) rating, suitable for in-wall or ceiling installations where fire safety codes mandate plenum-rated cabling. It requires a minimum bend radius of 20mm and has a connector pull strength limit of 10kg (100N) and a compression load resistance of 50kg (500N). An optional Micro USB power source (5V, 250mW max) can be connected if the source device does not provide sufficient HDMI power, ensuring signal stability.
