Overview

The CNFE1003M2 is a single-channel 10/100 Mbps Ethernet-to-optical media converter that solves long-distance camera and sensor connectivity where copper Ethernet runs either exceed Cat6A distance limits or introduce electrical noise and ground-loop risk. It accepts standard 10/100 BASE-T/TX electrical input on an RJ45 port and converts to 100 BASE-FX optical output via SC connectors. The unit is auto-negotiating (10 or 100 Mbps, full or half duplex on the electrical side) and supports multimode fiber up to 3 km (2 mi) or singlemode fiber up to 20 km (12 mi) — making it ideal for sprawling industrial or campus surveillance networks where fiber backbone infrastructure already exists.

Compatibility

The CNFE1003M2 pairs with any surveillance camera, NVR, PoE injector, or network appliance with 10/100 Mbps Ethernet output. No proprietary configuration required — the unit is transparent to data encoding and complies with IEEE 802.3. It functions in one-fiber or two-fiber designs depending on the fiber plant available on-site. Works with existing multimode fiber (common in building-wide installs) or singlemode (preferred for distance and immunity). SC optical connectors are standard on legacy and modern fiber infrastructure; if your network uses ST connectors, verify compatibility with your existing fiber terminations before order.

Installation Notes

Power input is 8–24 VDC or 22–27 VAC; an included DC power supply is provided. The standard size unit (6.1 × 5.3 × 1.1 in) is hot-swappable for rack mounting or may be wall-mounted using mounting holes. The unit is environmentally hardened for -40°C to +75°C operation with no in-field optical adjustments — plug-and-play deployment. LED indicators show operational status. Voltage transient protection on all power and signal lines protects against surges common in long outdoor runs. Power consumption is 3W, well within passive PoE budgets if powered from a remote PoE injector. Automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover on the electrical port eliminates cable-swapping during installation.
