Description

Comnet CNFE1004M1B 100Mbps Ethernet-to-Optical Media Converter

The CNFE1004M1B is a one-channel 10/100 Mbps media converter that bridges electrical (RJ45) and optical (SC connector) interfaces — the right tool when you need to extend surveillance camera or IP device cabling beyond copper limits without installing a parallel fiber network.

Overview

This converter accepts 10/100 BASE-T electrical input and outputs 100 BASE-FX optical, auto-negotiating between 10 and 100 Mbps full or half duplex on the copper side. SC connector architecture supports both multimode fiber (up to 3 km / 2 mi) and single-mode fiber (up to 20 km / 12 mi), so reach is matched to your span and budget. The unit ships in a standard ComNet ComFit housing suitable for wall or rack mount — no field adjustments required, power via included 8–24 VDC supply.

Compatibility

Deploy this converter inline between any IP camera, network switch, or edge device with standard RJ45 output and long-distance fiber runs. Common scenarios: extending PoE-powered cameras across warehouse floors, linking rooftop cameras to an NVR in a distant building, or bridging electrical networks in electrically noisy industrial environments where fiber isolation is critical. Works with any device compliant with IEEE 802.3 standard Ethernet — no vendor lock-in.

Installation Notes

Operating range: -40°C to +75°C, storage to +85°C; humidity 0–95% non-condensing. Power input: 8–24 VDC at 3W consumption (minimal load on supply rails). LED indicators signal operational status — no meter or optical power meter needed for basic commissioning. Voltage transient protection on all power and signal lines prevents surge damage. Multimode distances assume clean connectors; single-mode extends reach tenfold but requires proper fiber termination and testing.
