Description

Middle Atlantic HBL1 1RU Flat Aluminum Blank Panel

Overview

The Middle Atlantic HBL1 is a 1-rack-unit (1.75 in.) flat aluminum blank panel in a black brushed and anodized finish, designed to close unused 1U openings in 19-inch equipment racks. At just 0.08 in. deep and 0.4 lbs., the HBL1 adds virtually no profile behind the face of the rack — useful in shallow-depth enclosures or tightly packed rack accessories deployments where clearance behind the panel matters. Blanking panels are not cosmetic filler: open rack slots disrupt front-to-back airflow patterns, causing hot spots on active equipment. Filling every unused 1U slot is a basic thermal management step in any Middle Atlantic rack build or retrofit.

Compatibility

Fits any standard EIA-310 19-inch rack or enclosure accepting 1U panels — including Middle Atlantic's ERK, BGR, BHBP, PD, and C-series rack enclosures, as well as third-party 19-in. open-frame and enclosed racks conforming to EIA-310-D rail spacing. The two-point mounting pattern aligns with standard 10-32 or 12-24 rack rail threads used across the rack-mount equipment category. Not intended for 23-inch or ETSI-width racks.

Installation Notes

Mounts with two fasteners (rack screws not included — use hardware matched to your rail thread type: 10-32 for most Middle Atlantic rails, 12-24 for older or third-party frames). The 0.08 in. panel depth clears behind the rail face without interference on flush-mount or recessed-rail configurations. Anodized aluminum finish resists corrosion and abrasion under normal data center or AV rack conditions.
