Overview

The Viking Electronics E-10-IP is a flush-mount VoIP entry phone with integrated call button, designed for access points where you need SIP-based two-way audio plus relay-controlled door or gate hardware — all over a single PoE cable. At under 4W (PoE Class 1), it draws from the lightest PoE budget tier, meaning any 802.3af-capable port powers it without special switch provisioning. The black textured aluminum faceplate and security Torx mounting screws make it appropriate for public-facing or tamper-sensitive locations. The E-10-IP supports G.711u, G.711a, and G.722 audio codecs — G.722 delivers wideband (HD) audio at 50–7000 Hz, which meaningfully improves voice intelligibility compared to G.711's 300–3400 Hz narrowband range; worth specifying when the phone is installed in noisy lobbies or mechanical rooms. Onboard 2A relay contacts handle door strike or gate control directly, eliminating a separate relay module in most installs. The 90 dB SPL output at 1 meter is sufficient for moderate ambient noise environments. Operating range of -40°F to 140°F makes it viable for unheated vestibules, parking garages, and outdoor-adjacent enclosures — though for fully exposed wet environments, the EWP variant (rated to 100% humidity) is the correct choice instead.

Compatibility

The E-10-IP registers as a standard SIP 2.0 endpoint (RFC 3261), so it pairs with any SIP-compliant IP PBX or VoIP platform — Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Asterisk/FreePBX, 3CX, and similar. Network interface is 100BASE-TX. Viking Device Manager supports parallel programming, firmware updates, and polling across multiple E-10-IP units, which matters on multi-door deployments. For surface mounting, pair with the optional Viking VE-5x5 surface mount box — the rough-in box for flush installation is included. The EWP version of this product is a separate SKU for installations requiring humidity tolerance up to 100%.

Installation Notes

Front panel is secured with security Torx screws — have the correct bit on hand before installation; standard Phillips will not work. Flush mount uses the included rough-in box; verify wall depth before cutting. Relay contacts are rated 2A — confirm compatibility with the door strike or gate controller's coil current draw before wiring. Operating humidity for the standard E-10-IP is 5–95% non-condensing; do not install in wash-down areas or exposed outdoor locations without the EWP variant.
