Overview
The E-20-IP-EWP is a surface-mount, handsfree SIP VoIP entry phone built for outdoor and harsh-environment deployments where standard products would fail. It draws under 4W on a PoE Class 1 port — no separate power supply, no conduit for AC. The Enhanced Weather Protection (EWP) package adds foam rubber gaskets, sealed boots, gel-filled butt connectors, and urethane or thermoplastic potting, pushing humidity tolerance to 100% and temperature range to -40°F to 140°F. That combination makes it viable in loading docks, cold-storage entries, parking structures, and exterior walls where condensation or washdown exposure is routine. The E-20-IP-EWP registers as a standard SIP 2.0 (RFC3261) endpoint — any SIP-compatible PBX or IP phone system handles provisioning without special licensing or gateways. The push button initiates calls to up to 5 programmable numbers, and the onboard relay (2A @ 30VDC / 1A @ 125VAC) can trigger a door strike, gate controller, or alarm input directly from the unit.
Compatibility
Registers with any SIP 2.0 (RFC3261)-compliant call server — including Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Avaya IP Office, FreePBX, 3CX, and similar platforms. Connects via a single RJ45 10/100 Base-T port to any IEEE 802.3af PoE switch; no injector required if the switch is af-capable. The built-in relay integrates directly with electric door strikes or access control panels accepting a dry-contact input — compatible with Viking's own door controllers as well as third-party access panels wired for relay activation. Audio codecs G.711u, G.711a, and G.722 ensure interoperability with the full range of SIP-based endpoints and softphone clients without transcoding overhead on the PBX.
Installation Notes
Surface mount only — the enclosure is not designed for flush or recessed installation. Three gel-filled butt connectors are included for field splicing; these are part of the EWP sealing system and should not be substituted with standard connectors. Relay contacts are rated 2A @ 30VDC / 1A @ 125VAC maximum — do not exceed when driving door hardware. The motion sensor (adjustable 1–4 inches) is present on touch-free variants in the E-20 family; confirm the specific variant before provisioning auto-answer behavior. Operating humidity up to 100% non-condensing for EWP models; standard (non-EWP) E-20-IP is rated only to 95% — specify EWP when the install environment involves standing moisture, washdown, or frequent condensation. Unit dimensions are 5" × 5" × 2.25"; verify back-box or surface clearance before rough-in.
