Description

Comnet NWK9IC Wireless Ethernet Bridge Kit

Overview

The Comnet NWK9IC is a point-to-point 802.11ac wireless bridge pair designed to carry full-duplex 500 Mbps throughput between fixed surveillance infrastructure sites where fiber or trenched copper is impractical. Each unit includes a 19 dBi directional antenna (17° beamwidth), eliminating the need for external antenna procurement. The kit contains one client and one remote unit with mounting hardware, purpose-built for outdoor hardened deployments across extended distances. Power input is 48–57 VDC via PoE (802.3af/at compatible), consuming 8 W maximum per unit — low enough to run on standard PoE switches without budget strain.

Compatibility

The NWK9IC is a standalone wireless transport layer — it bridges any Ethernet-capable surveillance device or network segment without proprietary dependencies. It works with NVRs, IP cameras, network switches, and VMS systems that accept standard RJ-45 input. The unit supports passive PoE injection on both the camera and recorder sides, so existing PoE-powered camera networks can extend across the wireless link without additional power equipment. Operating frequency band (5180–5825 MHz) is standard in North America and Europe; verify local regulatory approval for your deployment region before purchase.

Installation Notes

The 19 dBi directional antenna mandates line-of-sight alignment — minor obstructions (leaves, rain) degrade throughput rapidly. Beamwidth is 17°, meaning each unit has a narrow transmission cone; misalignment by more than 10° typically causes link dropout. Mount both units on poles, rooftops, or gantries with clear sky exposure. The enclosure is rated for -40°C to +70°C operation and -40°C to +85°C storage, suitable for North American winters and high-altitude summer deployments. Humidity tolerance to 95% non-condensing accommodates coastal and humid climates without sealed cabinet upgrades. Confirm your wireless regulatory domain (channel allocation) before deployment — 802.11ac channels vary by region.
