Overview

The Ubiquiti U5G-MAX-OUTDOOR is a hardened outdoor 5G modem (MPN: U5G-MAX-OUTDOOR) that bridges WAN gaps in remote branch offices, tower sites, and mission-critical deployments where traditional fiber or terrestrial links are absent or uneconomical. It delivers 3.4 Gbps downlink over 5G NSA networks, with fallback to 5G SA (1.8 Gbps) and LTE (1.6 Gbps) — ensuring network resilience without manual intervention. A single 2.5 GbE RJ45 port handles both management and data traffic, eliminating dual-wiring complexity. Power arrives via PoE at 14.5W, so a single cable run supplies both connectivity and control.

Compatibility

The U5G-MAX-OUTDOOR integrates into any UniFi-managed network infrastructure — it pairs with UniFi Dream Machines, UniFi controllers, and standard enterprise Ethernet switches equipped with PoE. The 2.5 GbE RJ45 output connects directly to router WAN ports, managed switches, or PoE injectors without proprietary adapters. Carrier certifications (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon) qualify it for North American telecom environments. NDAA compliance enables U.S. federal and state procurement.

Installation Notes

Mount on poles 1–2.5" (25–63.5 mm) outer diameter using the included UV-stabilized polycarbonate bracket; wall mounting hardware is also supplied. The enclosure withstands 91N wind loading at 200 km/h (125 mph), suitable for exposed tower and rooftop installations. Operating temperature range of −40°C to +65°C covers Arctic to tropical climates. IPX6 rating handles direct spray and light rain; upgrade to IPX7 using an optional cable-gland door kit for splash-prone environments. Secure the Nano-SIM or eSIM before deployment — no in-field swaps on live towers.
