Overview

The Ubiquiti U5G-MAX is a compact 5G NR modem engineered to bridge cellular networks into enterprise infrastructure where fiber or traditional WAN backhaul is unavailable or impractical. It delivers 3.4 Gbps downlink on 5G NSA with fallback to 1.8 Gbps on 5G SA or 1.6 Gbps on 4G LTE — meaning you get usable multi-gigabit throughput regardless of which carrier band is available. The unit measures 180 × 109 × 33.8 mm, weighs 410 grams, and runs on PoE at 14.5W, eliminating the need for AC power runs to remote sites. A single 2.5 GbE RJ45 port serves both WAN uplink and device management. NDAA-compliant with FCC, IC, CE, PTCRB, GCF, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon certifications — approved for North American carrier networks and government-restricted deployments.

Compatibility

The U5G-MAX integrates with UniFi Network version 10.0.162 and later, allowing unified management alongside UniFi switching, routing, and access point infrastructure. The 2.5 GbE port connects to any standard Ethernet uplink, PoE injector, or managed switch supporting 802.3at or higher power budgets. It operates independently as a WAN gateway for hybrid-failover architectures (primary fiber + backup 5G, or vice versa) across enterprise branch offices, remote sites, temporary deployments, and mobile command centers. Compatible with standard pole, wall, and window mounting hardware — all included.

Installation Notes

Requires PoE input with minimum 14.5W capacity — standard 802.3at (30W) injectors or managed PoE switches handle this comfortably. Operating temperature range 0 to 40°C (32 to 104°F) supports temperate to warm climates; active cooling or environmental enclosures are needed outside this band. The device accepts either Nano SIM or eSIM for carrier provisioning — confirm SIM format with your carrier before installation. Factory reset button provides local recovery without network access. Enclosure is polycarbonate and aluminum alloy with IK04 tamper resistance — suitable for outdoor mounting but not submersion-rated.
