Panduit CJSUDCAPRD-X is a 45° angled shielded wire cap designed for Cat 6 Mini-Com TX6A shielded TG jacks. This 10-pack of red dust caps maintains shielding continuity on terminated jacks during cable management, pre-termination staging, or end-point installation where the jack remains unpopulated. The angled design allows the wire cap to sit flush against cable bundles routed at an angle, preventing snag points in high-density patch panels or consolidation points. Red color coding simplifies circuit identification in multi-service environments where shielded circuits carry PoE, AV, or building-control traffic that requires EMI protection.
The 45° angle on the CJSUDCAPRD-X serves two purposes: it allows the cap to follow the natural exit angle of cables in angled patch panels (common in horizontal cable management and consolidation points), and it reduces the overall depth projection of the terminated jack. In 1U or 2U high-density panel installations where rear clearance is limited, the angled cap can save 5-8mm of depth compared to a straight cap, which may be the difference between proper door closure and forced cable bends. The cap snaps onto the jack body with a friction fit, covering both the wire termination points and the front port opening. This dual coverage prevents dust ingress into the port and accidental contact with the 110-style termination points on the rear, which is critical in environments where the panel is accessible to non-technical staff or during construction phases.
Shielded caps are mandatory in installations where shielded cabling is used for EMI rejection—such as hospital imaging suites, industrial control panels near VFDs or motor starters, or AV runs adjacent to dimmer packs. An unshielded cap or no cap at all creates a discontinuity in the shield path, turning the jack into an antenna that radiates or receives EMI. The CJSUDCAPRD-X maintains metal-to-metal contact with the jack shield, preserving the shield continuity even when the port is not mated to a patch cord. This is especially important in pre-terminated fiber/copper hybrid panels where some ports may remain unused for months during phased rollouts. The red color allows techs to quickly identify which circuits are capped versus which are in service, or to denote specific circuit types (e.g., red = PoE reserve, blue = data, yellow = voice).
Each CJSUDCAPRD-X cap is sold in a 10-pack, which aligns with typical small-panel or test-bench quantities. For full panel deployments, carton quantity is 100 pieces (ten 10-packs). The cap is compatible exclusively with Panduit's Mini-Com TX6A shielded TG jack series; it will not fit unshielded TG jacks or other manufacturers' shielded jacks due to differences in the jack body geometry and shield termination points. When ordering, ensure the jack part number includes "S" or "Shielded" in the designation—common compatible jacks include CJS688TGRD, CJS688TGBL, and other CJSXXXTG shielded variants. The cap is a consumable accessory; order additional 10-packs for staging inventory, field techs' truck stock, or ongoing MAC (moves/adds/changes) work where ports are frequently reconfigured.
