ATEN VE1833 True 4K HDMI/USB HDBaseT 3.0 Transceiver with PoH

Overview

The VE1833 is a HDBaseT 3.0 LITE transceiver that extends true 4K×2K video at 60Hz with full 4:4:4 chroma — no subsampling, no compression artifacts — up to 40 meters over a single Cat 6a U/FTP cable or ATEN's proprietary HDBaseT cable. That 40m reach covers most conference rooms, classrooms, and boardrooms without pulling HDMI or running fiber. The unit simultaneously carries USB 2.0 at up to 300 Mbps over the same cable run, making it practical for interactive displays, USB peripherals, and presentation systems where a laptop needs both video output and USB device access at the far end. Power over HDBaseT (PoH) is supported on the RJ-45 port (PD and PSE modes), so you can power the remote unit from the local end — one cable handles signal and power together, reducing outlet dependencies at the display end. The HDMI output on the receiver side is a Type A female connector; stereo audio breaks out separately via a 3.5mm mini-jack for systems that need independent audio routing.

Compatibility

The VE1833 is designed for use within ATEN's HDBaseT 3.0 ecosystem. It pairs with compatible ATEN HDBaseT 3.0 transmitters and receivers in the VE18xx series. The HDBaseT 3.0 LITE specification targets single-link 4K deployments rather than multi-zone matrix configurations — verify your transmitter supports HDBaseT 3.0 LITE before pairing. Cable compatibility is specific: HDBaseT3-certified Cat 6a U/FTP or ATEN's own tailor-made HDBaseT cable is required to reach the 40m maximum resolution. Standard Cat 5e or Cat 6 runs will reduce maximum distance and may not sustain 4K@60Hz 4:4:4. USB host and device roles are fixed by connector type: the Type B female (white) is the host port, and the two Type A female connectors (white) serve as device ports — plan peripheral assignments accordingly.

Installation Notes

Maximum cable run for 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 is 40m; direct HDMI connection via the output port is limited to 5m. Humidity tolerance is 0–80% RH non-condensing — avoid installations in unconditioned spaces with condensation risk. Firmware upgrades are managed via a slide switch (ON/OFF) on the unit. Dimensions with bracket: 169.4 × 146.9 × 30.0 mm (6.67 × 5.78 × 1.18 in.); without bracket: 166.0 × 124.9 × 29.0 mm. Unit weight is 0.64 kg (1.41 lb). The DC jack includes a locking collar — use the locking connector to prevent accidental power disconnection in rack or wall-mount deployments. For AV-over-IP and signal extension planning, confirm PoH power budget at the PSE end before relying on cable-powered operation at the display.
