Overview

The VE883ATK2 is the singlemode (SM) LC duplex transmitter module for ATEN's VE883A fiber optic HDMI extender system, engineered for long-haul AV signal distribution where copper simply cannot reach. Singlemode fiber carries true 4K signals — including 3840x2160 and 4096x2160 at up to 60 Hz — across distances up to 10KM (6.2 miles), making this the correct transmitter choice for campus-wide distribution, inter-building runs, and any installation where multimode's 300–550m ceiling is a hard constraint. A companion 1 x GbE (RJ-45 Female) Ethernet channel is included, allowing network data to share the same fiber run — useful when extending to a remote display that also needs LAN access. Power is delivered via a locking DC jack, which prevents accidental disconnection in rack or wall-mount deployments.

Compatibility

The VE883ATK2 is the singlemode transmitter unit for the ATEN VE883A HDMI fiber extender system. It pairs exclusively with the VE883A receiver module over singlemode (SM), LC duplex fiber — do not pair with a multimode (MM/OM3) receiver or the VE883AK1 multimode variant, which uses OM3 LC duplex fiber and is limited to shorter runs. Supported input resolutions span the full range from 480p through 4096x2160p (4K DCI) at 50/60 Hz, as well as 1920x1080 at refresh rates up to 240 Hz — covering both standard AV distribution and high-frame-rate display scenarios. The integrated GbE network pass-through works with any standard RJ-45 network device at the remote end. For installations requiring a singlemode LC duplex patch cable, verify the cable is rated SM and LC-terminated on both ends before deployment.

Installation Notes

Maximum cable run on the HDMI copper side (source to transmitter) is up to 5 m — keep the transmitter close to the source device. Singlemode fiber runs require SM-rated LC duplex cable; do not substitute OM3 or other multimode fiber, as signal integrity will be compromised or lost. Operating humidity is rated 0–80% RH non-condensing. The locking DC jack requires the correct ATEN power supply; confirm voltage before substitution. Clean and inspect LC fiber connectors before mating — dust contamination on SM fiber is a common source of signal loss at 10KM distances.
