Overview
The TP-Link TL-SG116E is a 16-port gigabit unmanaged switch designed for straightforward network expansion in security camera systems, access control infrastructure, and general enterprise environments. Unmanaged operation means zero configuration overhead—plug cables and power, and traffic flows immediately. This eliminates deployment time and complexity for integrators deploying network switches in time-sensitive installations where VLAN management or traffic shaping is not required. The TL-SG116E consolidates multiple IP cameras, wireless access points, recorders, and building automation endpoints onto a single backbone segment without requiring upstream aggregation or management overhead.
Compatibility
All 16 ports operate at 1 Gbps (1000 Mbps), accommodating standard Cat5e or Cat6 cabling with run distances up to 100 meters per IEEE 802.3. The switch provides 32 Gbps total switching capacity, making it suitable for integrating Axis P32-series domes, Hikvision DS-2CD2143G0-I turrets, Uniview IPC324SR-VPZ28 panoramic cameras, TP-Link Tapo C320WS wireless cameras, and similar enterprise-class IP endpoints. No PoE power delivery is available from the switch—all connected devices must source power independently via wall adapters, midspan injectors, or dedicated PoE switches. If your deployment requires PoE power delivery, substitute a managed or unmanaged PoE switch instead.
Installation Notes
The unit operates on AC 110–240V input with an internal power supply. Environmental operating range is 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F), placing it in office/indoor deployment territory—avoid outdoor-exposed mounting or uninsulated enclosures in climates exceeding these bounds. Desktop or rack mounting is supported via optional brackets; confirm space and power outlet availability before installation. Standard RJ45 termination on all ports; no special cabling tools required beyond a standard ethernet crimper.
