Overview

The TAPO C320WS is a 2K QHD (2560×1440) outdoor Wi-Fi camera designed for perimeter monitoring, entry points, and yard coverage where weatherproof operation and edge-based motion detection matter. At 30m infrared range, it captures usable night vision across typical residential and small-commercial yards without requiring a local NVR — recordings store directly to microSD (up to 512 GB). The IP66 rating handles direct rain and dust; 2T2R dual-antenna 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi keeps the connection stable across moderate distances. This is a standalone deployment device: power it via the supplied cable, pair it to your home or office Wi-Fi network through the Tapo app, and motion alerts arrive on your phone.

Compatibility

The TAPO C320WS operates independently via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and does not integrate with wired IP camera systems, DVRs, or traditional NVRs. It is compatible with the Tapo app (iOS/Android), Google Assistant for voice control, and Alexa for automation triggers. Local storage is microSD-based only — no cloud subscription required, though Tapo cloud backup is optional. If you need integration with an existing wired surveillance backbone (Axis, Hikvision, Dahua), this camera will not stream to those systems. It is best suited as an isolated Wi-Fi deployment or as a supplement to a separate wired system.

Installation Notes

Mount the camera on a wall or eave using the included bracket, positioning it to minimize direct sun glare on the lens at night (which can reduce IR effectiveness). The 2T2R antenna design requires line-of-sight or near-line-of-sight to your Wi-Fi router; heavy walls or metal structures will degrade signal — test placement before final installation. Use the Ethernet port as an alternative to Wi-Fi if wired connectivity is available at the mount point. The weatherproof housing is IP66-rated for rain and dust, but not submersion; do not install below grade or in locations prone to standing water.
