Description

TP-Link ARCHER T4U PLUS AC1300 Wireless USB Adapter

Overview

The ARCHER T4U PLUS is an AC1300 dual-antenna USB wireless adapter designed to add or extend Wi-Fi connectivity to fixed or portable security devices where Ethernet is unavailable or impractical. The dual high-gain antennas provide directional coverage suitable for backhaul links between cameras, NVRs, and network infrastructure, or as a wireless bridge for temporary surveillance deployments. Install this when your surveillance device has a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port and you need reliable 802.11ac connectivity without running cable.

Compatibility

The ARCHER T4U PLUS works with any surveillance camera, mobile device, NVR, or edge recorder with an available USB port (USB 2.0 or higher). Verify your target device supports external USB wireless adapters—most industrial-grade cameras and fixed recorders do not. This adapter operates on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, so it is compatible with dual-band or single-band networks. It does not require PoE or external power; all power is drawn from the USB port. Confirm your device's USB port can supply adequate power (typically 500 mA for USB 2.0 or 900 mA for USB 3.0) before deployment.

Installation Notes

Position the dual antennas perpendicular to each other or aligned with the direction of your access point for optimal signal strength. Mount the adapter within 2–3 feet of the camera or device housing to minimize cable stress on the USB connector. Use a right-angle USB extension cable if needed to avoid mechanical strain. Ensure the adapter is not blocked by metal enclosures, metal mounting brackets, or other RF-reflective materials. On outdoor or IP66-rated devices, protect the USB connection and adapter with a weatherproof enclosure or cable gland to prevent moisture ingress at the connection point.
