Description

Allied Telesis AT-IMC2010TP/SP-980 10G PoE+ to SFP+ Industrial Media Converter

Overview

The AT-IMC2010TP/SP-980 is a TAA-compliant, industrial-temperature 10 Gigabit PoE+ to SFP+ media converter from Allied Telesis, purpose-built for deployments that need to bridge copper PoE+ infrastructure to fiber uplinks in environments where standard commercial-grade hardware won't survive. The industrial temperature rating addresses the core challenge in outdoor cabinets, factory floors, and transit installations where ambient swings would take a commercial converter offline. The TAA compliance designation makes it eligible for U.S. federal and SLED procurement without additional sourcing scrutiny. If your design already calls for SFP+ fiber runs and you need to feed powered copper devices — IP cameras, access control readers, VoIP endpoints — at the edge, this converter closes that gap without requiring a full managed switch at every node.

Compatibility

The AT-IMC2010TP/SP-980 is part of the Allied Telesis IMC2000 series media converter family. The copper side presents a PoE+ (802.3at) RJ-45 port capable of powering downstream devices drawing up to 30W. The fiber side accepts standard SFP+ modules, making it compatible with the range of Allied Telesis SFP+ transceivers as well as third-party MSA-compliant SFP+ optics — verify Allied Telesis's qualified optics list for guaranteed interoperability. It integrates into any network infrastructure that terminates 10GbE fiber, including Allied Telesis SwitchBlade and x930 series aggregation switches, as well as third-party 10GbE fiber switches with available SFP+ ports. Compatible downstream powered devices include any 802.3at PoE+ consuming device: IP cameras (indoor or ruggedized dome/bullet models), access readers, and similar edge endpoints.

Installation Notes

Verify the operating temperature range against your specific enclosure conditions before deployment — the industrial rating is the primary reason to select this model over a standard IMC2000 variant. Confirm SFP+ module compatibility against the Allied Telesis qualified transceiver list prior to procurement; using unqualified optics may affect warranty standing. TAA compliance requires documentation at time of procurement for federal contracts — confirm country-of-origin paperwork is included with the unit.
