Description

Allied Telesis AT-IMC2000TP/SP-980 PoE+ Industrial Gigabit Media Converter

Overview

The Allied Telesis AT-IMC2000TP/SP-980 is a TAA-compliant, industrial-temperature-rated media converter that bridges a 10/100/1000T PoE+ copper port to a 100X/1000X SFP fiber slot — purpose-built for installations where copper runs hit distance limits or where electrical isolation between network segments is required. The AT-IMC2000TP/SP-980 is the right tool when you need to extend a PoE+ device — an IP camera, access control reader, or wireless access point — over fiber to a wiring closet or head-end equipment that only presents a copper uplink, without breaking the PoE budget or requiring a separate power injector at the remote end. The industrial temperature rating makes it viable in unconditioned spaces: equipment rooms, outdoor enclosures, and manufacturing floors where standard commercial-grade converters fail.

Compatibility

The copper RJ-45 side supports 10/100/1000BASE-T with PoE+ (802.3at), so any powered device drawing up to the 802.3at limit can connect directly without an additional injector. The SFP slot accepts standard 100BASE-X or 1000BASE-X SFP modules — Allied Telesis AT-SP modules are the validated option, but the slot follows industry-standard SFP MSA form factor. Verify SFP wavelength and distance requirements against your fiber plant: single-mode vs. multimode and LC vs. SC connector type on the SFP dictate what you can use in that slot. This converter is designed for use within the Allied Telesis IMC2000 media conversion system chassis or as a standalone unit, depending on the deployment configuration.

Installation Notes

The industrial temperature rating is a meaningful differentiator only if the enclosure or chassis it mounts in is also rated for the same range — verify the host chassis or DIN rail enclosure thermal spec before relying on it. TAA compliance makes this unit eligible for U.S. federal procurement under the Trade Agreements Act; confirm your project's TAA documentation requirements before substituting with a non-TAA variant. SFP module is not included — source the correct SFP separately based on fiber type, distance, and wavelength for your run.
