The Allied Telesis AT-IMC3000BT2/SP-980 is a TAA-compliant industrial media converter designed to bridge copper and fiber segments in demanding network edge deployments. It provides one powered device (PD) port, two Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) output ports for powering downstream devices, and one SFP slot for fiber uplink — making it suited for security and surveillance edge installations where you need to extend PoE-powered endpoints over a fiber backbone without adding a full managed switch. TAA compliance makes the AT-IMC3000BT2/SP-980 eligible for U.S. federal procurement under the Trade Agreements Act.
The SFP slot accepts standard 1000BASE-X small form-factor pluggable transceivers — verify your fiber type (single-mode vs. multimode) and distance requirements when selecting an SFP module, as the converter itself does not include one. The copper PoE ports operate at Gigabit speeds, compatible with 802.3af/at-class endpoint devices such as IP cameras, access control readers, and VoIP handsets that draw power via PoE. The PD input port allows the converter itself to be powered from an upstream PoE-capable switch, eliminating the need for a local power supply where a PoE switch is already in the path. Intended for use within the Allied Telesis industrial networking ecosystem, though the standard SFP and PoE interfaces ensure broad interoperability with third-party infrastructure.
Confirm upstream switch PoE budget before deploying: the converter draws power as a PD while simultaneously sourcing PoE to two downstream devices, so total draw on the upstream port includes both the converter's own consumption and pass-through PoE load. Select an SFP transceiver matched to your fiber plant — wavelength, connector type (LC vs. SC), and reach — before installation. Industrial-rated enclosure suits environments with wider temperature ranges and vibration typical of industrial networking edge closets, utility spaces, or outdoor cabinets; verify the specific operating temperature range against your deployment environment in the Allied Telesis datasheet.
