STI UB-1 Universal Button Magnetic Strike
Overview
The STI UB-1 is a 30VDC magnetic strike designed to pair with universal push-button request-to-exit (REX) or credential reader interfaces. It provides electromagnetic locking and release functionality for door installations where fail-safe or fail-secure operation is required — power loss behavior is configured via the connected control electronics, not the strike itself. Typical deployments include secure interior access points, credential-based entry, and retrofit scenarios where a standardized strike interface simplifies integration across mixed hardware environments.
Compatibility
The UB-1 operates with any access control system supplying 30VDC power and capable of driving a relay or direct control output to the strike terminals. It is designed as a universal interface — compatible with STI control boards (including the LT-1 series logic timer), third-party access control panels, and credential reader platforms that support fail-safe or fail-secure magnetic strike activation. Installation fits standard door frame preparations for surface-mounted or recessed magnetic strike application. Wiring accommodates both fail-safe (strike de-energizes on power loss) and fail-secure (strike remains energized on power loss) configurations depending on how the control circuit is terminated.
Installation Notes
Mounting requires #6-32 x 5/16" Phillips pan-head screws (two provided). Compliance with NFPA 70 and NEC electrical code is required during installation. The strike is not a substitute for panic hardware and must be integrated with appropriate egress controls. Wiring diagrams provided in the installation documentation show proper terminal connections for relay contact sets and timer logic integration. Do not cut PCB traces during installation; solder jumpers are provided for configuration adjustments. Environmental limits and code-compliant mounting specifications must be observed per applicable ADA and local authority jurisdiction standards.
