Overview
The STI SS2188EX-EN is a push button activation station designed for door access control installations requiring 30VDC magnetic lock triggering. It pairs with STI's Universal Stopper® cover system, enabling consistent visual feedback and ergonomic activation across mixed deployment scenarios — retail corridors, office security vestibules, warehouse restricted areas. The unit operates at 30VDC, matching standard electromagnetic lock power supplies. Its modular cover design eliminates the need to stock multiple enclosure variants when you're standardizing hardware across multiple door locations.
Compatibility
The SS2188EX-EN integrates with any 30VDC magnetic lock strike or solenoid-operated door hardware. It pairs specifically with STI's Stopper® line of access control buttons and is compatible with button types 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 in the SS2 series. Mounting options accommodate both flush installation (KIT-102720 mounting plate supplied standard) and surface-mounted configurations (KIT-71100A extended back box for types 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9). For button types 0, 1, 3, and 4 requiring additional depth, the KIT-71101B-extended back box and 12mm spacer combination is required. The Universal Stopper® cover works across all these configurations without modification, reducing installation variance and spares inventory.
Installation Notes
Mounting requires 3/16-inch diameter drill holes for anchor placement. Standard flush depth mounting uses the supplied KIT-102720 12mm worldwide mounting plate and spacer. Surface installations without extended depth demand the KIT-71100A back box (flush-mount kit is discarded). For button types requiring additional setback from the door face, KIT-71101B provides 1.25 inches additional depth when anchors are used. All installations operate at 30VDC — verify your power supply capacity before commissioning multiple units on a single circuit. The Universal Stopper® cover design eliminates custom drilling or re-facing work across different button mounting depths.
