Overview
The STI-7521OB is a clear polycarbonate protective enclosure with an open backbox design and thumb lock mechanism, built to shield access control readers, strike devices, and annunciator panels from vandalism and accidental damage without obscuring visibility. The open backbox allows the cabinet to mount over devices already installed on the wall, making it ideal for retrofit scenarios where re-wiring is impractical. Thumb lock provides straightforward key control — authorized personnel unlock, open the lid, and access the device inside; casual tampering is deterred by the polycarbonate barrier and locking mechanism.
Compatibility
The STI-7521OB accommodates standard access control readers, electromagnetic strikes, magnetic locks, and fire alarm control panels. Open backbox configuration supports both vertical and horizontal wiring runs and works with typical commercial door-control hardware mounting footprints. The design is agnostic to reader technology (magnetic stripe, card proximity, keypad) — it protects the enclosure, not the electronics inside. External mounting tabs and included hardware enable wall mounting in either portrait or landscape orientation. An additional eyelet allows a secondary padlock or safety seal if dual-lock tamper detection is required.
Installation Notes
Covers mount to the wall using external mounting tabs with tamperproof screws and included hardware. Design allows visibility from any angle — the polycarbonate does not obstruct sightlines to indicator lights or status displays. Working temperature range is −40°F to 250°F (−40°C to 121°C), suitable for indoor commercial spaces and non-conditioned equipment rooms. Polycarbonate is UV-stabilized to resist yellowing and brittle failure outdoors, though this is an enclosure — site it according to your access control wiring and device needs.
