The STI-9840 is a protective wire guard designed to shield Fireray fire detection sensors from accidental impact and physical damage in high-traffic or industrial environments. This guard mounts directly over the detector without interfering with its optical performance, making it the standard solution for warehouses, loading docks, manufacturing floors, and other facilities where equipment contact is a recurring issue. The STI-9840 fits the smaller Fireray sensor footprint (6.61 × 5.78 inches) and includes the H19020 WireGuard bracket system for secure, tool-free installation.
The STI-9840 is compatible with Fireray fire detection sensors in the compact detector range. It works within the broader STI fire detection ecosystem, which includes beam-type smoke detectors and related Fireray guard variants (STI-9841, STI-9845, and others). If you are deploying multiple detector sizes across a facility, verify the exact detector model before ordering—STI maintains separate guard SKUs for larger detectors and specialty applications. The guard does not affect detector sensitivity or false-alarm performance when properly installed.
The STI-9840 uses three #10 × 1/2 Phillips pan head screws (provided) with the H19020 bracket. Mount the guard by centering it over the detector, securing the first clip in your desired location, then locating and attaching the remaining two clips. Drill holes are sized for #10–12 anchors on 5.78-inch centers with 0.78-inch edge spacing (six anchor points total per the technical drawing). No tools beyond a standard Phillips driver are required. The guard adds approximately 0.44 inches of standoff from the detector face, ensuring optical path clearance. Installation takes under 10 minutes per unit and requires no electrical wiring or recalibration of the detector.
