STI BPP1614 Polycarbonate Back Panel
Overview
The STI BPP1614 is a 16" x 14" polycarbonate back panel that shields access control readers and strike hardware from moisture, dust, and impact damage. This protective enclosure extends the operational life of mounted door entry components in both indoor and outdoor installations where weather exposure or high-traffic environments create wear risk. The clear polycarbonate construction maintains visibility of wiring and mounting points during installation while blocking contaminants — critical in loading docks, exterior corridors, or any location where readers face direct environmental exposure.
Compatibility
The BPP1614 integrates with STI access control systems, reader installations, and door strike assemblies operating at 9VDC. It accommodates standard reader mounting configurations and supports typical striker implementations within the STI product ecosystem. Verify the exact mounting holes and cable entry points match your reader footprint before ordering — polycarbonate back panels are form-fitted to specific reader frames and cannot be modified in the field without risking seal integrity.
Installation Notes
Mount using the four fixing holes drilled with a 7mm masonry bit, as specified in STI installation guidance. Secure the frame with provided wall fixings — do not over-torque polycarbonate fasteners or you risk stress cracking around the holes. If using a weather gasket (sold separately), position it between the frame and the mounting surface to seal cable entry points. For surface-mounted applications, use the spacer inserts to blank off unused cable holes and prevent water pooling or debris ingress.
