STI BPP2016 Polycarbonate Back Panel
Overview
The STI BPP2016 is a 20-inch by 16-inch polycarbonate back panel built to reinforce and protect access control installations in indoor and outdoor environments. EnviroArmour® polycarbonate construction resists vandalism, accidental impact, and environmental degradation — meaning longer equipment life and fewer service calls on exposed reader and strike assemblies. This panel mounts as a backing structure for reader plates, electromagnetic locks, request-to-exit devices, and other low-voltage access control hardware that would otherwise be vulnerable to weather, UV, and physical damage. Operates at 9VDC, integrating directly into standard access control power supplies.
Compatibility
The BPP2016 is designed for STI access control system architectures and reader assemblies that require protective mounting and reinforcement. It functions as a universal backing component for electromagnetic strikes, card readers, and REX buttons within STI system frameworks. The 9VDC specification ensures compatibility with standard low-voltage access control power supplies and control modules commonly deployed in commercial security installations. Integrators installing reader arrays, door-mounted electronics, or weather-exposed control points benefit from the rigid polycarbonate frame to secure multiple devices and protect against tampering and environmental wear.
Installation Notes
The BPP2016 uses four fixed mounting points drilled through the face plate. A 7mm masonry drill bit is required for wall installations. Position the back panel centrally over the devices to be protected, mark the four hole locations, drill through to substrate (masonry, wood, or metal stud as applicable), and secure with provided wall fasteners. For surface-mounted configurations, unused cable entry holes can be blanked off using the included spacer inserts. Apply the weather gasket if the installation is exposed to direct rain or high-moisture conditions. No special tools beyond standard drill and fasteners are needed.
