STI STI-6522-C Bopper Stopper Clear Biometric Keypad Reader
Overview
The STI STI-6522-C is a molded polycarbonate protective housing designed for biometric keypads and similar access control devices. It solves a specific problem: keypads in high-traffic or weather-exposed environments face vandalism, accidental damage, ice/snow buildup, and operator wear. This clear housing lets you read status indicators and biometric feedback while the stainless steel torsion spring keeps the cover closed between uses. Typical working temperature range is −40°F to 250°F (−40°C to 121°C), making it suitable for both heated indoor spaces and unheated outdoor vestibules or loading docks.
Compatibility
The STI-6522-C fits biometric keypad units, HID-based credential readers, electrical outlets, smaller-size pull stations, push buttons, and volume or lighting control switches. The form factor is a hinged protective enclosure; confirm your specific keypad or reader dimensions against the housing opening before ordering. It is ADA-compliant and works in any access control system where the reader itself—not the housing—communicates with your control panel via standard protocols (TCP/IP, RS-232, or other). The housing is passive and does not alter authentication logic or protocol handling.
Installation Notes
Installation is straightforward: the housing comes complete with mounting hardware, gasket, and stainless steel hinges. No special tools or wiring are required beyond basic fasteners. The gasket should be replaced after five years of normal use to maintain weather sealing. The housing is backed by a three-year guarantee against polycarbonate breakage in normal use.
