Overview

The Viking Electronics K-1705-3 is a flush-mount or surface-mount video entry phone built for commercial access points where durability and visual verification matter. It combines a telephone-line-powered intercom, a heavy-duty metal keypad, and a color video camera into a single 14-gauge 316 stainless steel faceplate — the grade used in marine and food-service environments, not cosmetic brushed steel. Graphics are laser-etched directly into the metal, eliminating label degradation over time. The included rough-in box enables flush mounting; surface mounting requires the optional VE-6x7 box, sold separately. This unit belongs to the broader Viking Electronics entry phone line and is suited to building entrances, parking structures, and industrial facilities where standard devices fail.

Compatibility

The K-1705-3 is telephone-line powered, requiring 20V DC / 20mA minimum from the connected system — confirm your door controller or PBX can supply this before ordering. The camera output (composite video, 6–22V DC at 150mA) connects to any monitor or DVR accepting composite input over RG59 or RG6 coax; maximum wire run is 1,000 ft with solid-center-conductor, 95% bare-copper-braid coax. Video integrates directly into analog-input NVRs or DVRs supporting composite inputs. The keypad interfaces with Viking's own ES-1 or C-4000 door controllers; the K-1775-3 variant (not this model) adds a card reader with 26-bit Wiegand output for third-party access control systems.
