Vertiv SN-2D 2-Door Modular Temperature Sensor
Overview
The Vertiv SN-2D is a compact, two-door modular temperature sensor designed for environmental monitoring in data center and IT infrastructure deployments. It draws power directly through the communications cable — no separate power supply or wiring run required — keeping installation clean and reducing cable clutter in tight rack environments. Measuring just 2 in × 1.625 in × 0.75 in and weighing 0.25 lb, the SN-2D fits into constrained rack spaces where larger sensors won't. At 0.25 lb, it adds negligible load to any mounting surface. If you're monitoring inlet/outlet temperatures across dual-door enclosures or need per-door thermal visibility on a rack row, the SN-2D is the correct fit.
Compatibility
The SN-2D integrates directly with Vertiv Unity and RPC2 platforms. These are the two supported controller families — do not attempt to pair this sensor with third-party environmental monitoring units or other Vertiv lines without confirming protocol support. It is part of the Vertiv Sensor product line, designed to work within the modular sensor ecosystem those controllers manage. If your site runs a different Vertiv controller generation, verify Unity or RPC2 compatibility before ordering.
Installation Notes
The SN-2D mounts via supplied bracket or cable tie — no tools required beyond what's already on the rack. Bracket mounting provides a more secure, permanent attachment; cable tie is suitable for temporary installs or locations where drilling isn't an option. Operating environment is rated 41°F to 131°F (5°C to 55°C), which covers standard conditioned data center and IDF/MDF spaces but excludes unheated exterior enclosures or industrial environments that exceed that ceiling. Run the communications cable cleanly — power delivery depends on it; a damaged or undersized cable will interrupt both data and sensor power simultaneously.
